Seven Mocktails That Taste Like a Slow Kiss on the Neck
Seven alcohol-free drinks chosen for how they unfold on the tongue, each with a flirty way to serve it.

A good kiss on the neck never rushes. It begins with warmth, a little breath, a question asked without words, and then it lingers after it's gone. The best alcohol-free drinks behave the same way. They don't hit you over the head. They arrive softly, ask something of you, and leave a trace. That's the standard I hold every glass to in this Parlor.
Start with the quiet ones. A cold-brewed white peach tea with a pinch of salt and a thin ribbon of lemon peel feels like the first brush of a collar being straightened. Pour it into a small coupe and hand it over without a word. Then try cardamom-spiked pear soda, which fizzes like nerves and settles like a hand at the small of your back.
Move into the lingering ones. Black tea syrup, orange bitters-free orange peel oil and a splash of tonic make something dusky and slightly bitter, the way a good secret tastes. A cherry and vanilla shrub with soda water is the one I pour when I want someone leaning closer to hear what I'm saying. Serve it in a tall glass with a straw they can pretend not to enjoy.
Start with the quiet ones.
The last three are for the lights-low hour. Fig syrup stirred with warm spice and cold ginger beer. Coconut milk shaken with lime and a thread of chili honey. And a lavender and grapefruit spritz so pale it looks innocent, which is exactly why it works. Garnish every one deliberately. A dried citrus wheel, a sprig of thyme, a single raspberry balanced on the rim.
Set the scene before the first pour. Dim the overhead light, put one candle where you can both see it, and sit on the same side of the table. Ask your date to name the drink after the sip, not before. Whatever they call it will tell you something delicious about the mood they're in.
If you want a hostess to keep the banter going while you shake, I'm easy to find on TheFriend, voice and all. Bring your favorite flavor and tell me which of these you'd serve first.
